Original Six Foundation celebrates 10 years of O6 Afterschool program

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - The Original Six Foundation marked ten years of its O-6 Afterschool Program with “A Decade of Opening Doors” event at the Columbia Museum of Art, bringing together students, educators, families, and community leaders from all 13 O-6 program sites across South Carolina.

The evening honored 13 students, selected from more than 1,000 students enrolled statewide, as the first O-6 “Achievers of the Year” finalists. The students were recognized for their academics, leadership, attitude, attendance, and perseverance.

Ja’Nai Edwards was named the first statewide O-6 Achiever of the Year.

Leaders with the Foundation say Ja’Nai represents the heart of what O-6 Afterschool is all about — resilience, leadership, hard work, and believing in what’s possible.
