The Original Six Foundation Names Dr. Andrea Lance Executive Director

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The Original Six Foundation (O6) is pleased to announce Dr. Andrea Lance as its new executive director, effective October 26, 2026. A respected education and community leader, Lance brings more than 20 years of experience advancing educational opportunities, leading statewide initiatives, and building strategic partnerships that support student success.

Throughout her career, Lance has championed students and educators, with a particular commitment to rural and underserved communities. She has fostered collaboration among education and community leaders and connected schools, businesses, and communities with the resources they need.

O6 board chair Michael Haley said, “Dr. Lance’s established record as an educator and passionate advocate for South Carolina’s children makes her an ideal fit to lead the Foundation into its next chapter. We are excited about the experience, leadership, and energy she brings to this role and look forward to working alongside her as we continue our critical mission.”

“I am deeply honored to join the Original Six Foundation and build upon the meaningful work already underway,” said Lance. “I believe that where a child grows up should never determine how far they can go. Lasting change begins when we bring people together around a shared purpose and help each person recognize the important role they can play in making a difference. Educators, families, business leaders, and community partners each bring unique strengths and perspectives to this work. I look forward to listening, building meaningful relationships, and working together to expand opportunities for South Carolina’s children.”

Lance succeeds Kara Gormley Meador, who helped advance the Foundation’s mission and expand its reach across South Carolina.

As executive director, Lance will lead the Foundation’s strategic direction, strengthen public and private partnerships, oversee operations, and advance long-term sustainability to support its continued impact in rural and underserved communities.
